Shumen will host the international Rapid and Blitz Chess Tournament, Shumen Open, said the local chess club, which organizes the tournament.

The tournament has a prize purse of BGN 20,000. The last edition of the tournament brought together 199 chess players from Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, India, Libya, North Macedonia. Romania, Turkiye and Ukraine. Seventy chess players from seven countries have already entered this year’s edition, said the club.

The main rapid chess tournament will be in eleven rounds, and of the blitz chess tournament will be in nine rounds. Both will be played under the Swiss System format,” said chess trainer Anton Avramov.

Bulgarian grand masters Vasil Spasov and Hristian Iliev will participate.
