site.btaEuropean Week of Sport to Be Held in Bulgaria Sept. 23-30

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is organizing a series of events in Bulgaria during the #BeActive European Week of Sport, an initiative of the European Commission. From September 23 to 30, the country will hold numerous events to promote sport, physical activity and healthy diets, the ministry said on Thursday.

The national edition of the Week will be launched officially in Sofia on September 23. Between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the opening day, a sport village and a sport night dubbed #BeActiveNight will await visitors in front of the city's NDK convention centre, where sport organizations will present their activities through demonstrations and printed information materials. The opening ceremony will start at 6 p.m. A similar ceremony in the southwestern town of Kyustendil will be timed to coincide with the Sofia one. Highlights of the shows will be presented on big screens in the two places.

The Bulgarian events of the European Week of Sport will be held in Stara Zagora, Yambol, Nessebar, Byala, Montana, Kyustendil and Sofia. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is the national coordinator. The project is financed under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
