Bulgaria lost to Slovenia in their last pool B match of the European Volleyball Championship in Varna on Tuesday evening. The national team lost 0:3 (31:29, 25:22, 32:30) to the runner-up of the last European Championship in 2021. The tournament takes place in Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Israel.
The result puts Bulgaria in fourth place of pool B, which means that it will face the first-placed team of pool D on September 8 - France. The match will be played in Varna.
France finished the group phase with 4 wins, losing only to Romania and stands at No.3 in the European Volleyball Confederation's (CEV) official rankings. The French team won a gold medal at the last Summer Olympics and the FIVB Nations League in 2022.
