Bulgaria at the Olympics:
Mirela Demireva Makes It
to High Jump Final

Tokyo, August 5 (BTA special correspondent Dimiter Velyov) - Bulgaria's Mirela Demireva on Thursday passed the women's high jump qualification at the Tokyo Olympics, ranking 7th in Group A. She qualified for the final on August 7 by overcoming the 1.95 m standard, which was her personal best this season.

Demireva needed three attempts to jump over the 1.82 m, 1.90 m, and 1.95 m mark each.

"I did it to annoy you," she commented for BTA with a smile. "I am happy, this is the result of five years of work, constant demand, effort. As you know, you can work and yet not fulfill your potential. I am happy that I am here and can jump in the final," Demireva added.
