site.btaNuclear Regulation Agency Receives Application for Selection of New Nuclear Facility Site

On February 18, 2025, the Nuclear Regulation Agency (NRA) received an application from Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant for a permit to determine the location of a nuclear facility (Unit 8), the agency said Tuesday.

The application is accompanied by documents that will be subject to review and assessment for compliance with the requirements of the Law on Safe Use of Nuclear Energy and its implementing regulations. The submitted application is the first step in the overall licensing process for a new nuclear facility. A comprehensive review and assessment programme of the submitted application and the attached documents is to be prepared at the Nuclear Regulation Authority.
