Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Friday, Continue the Change (CC) Co-Chair Kiril Petkov said that gas transit fees could bring to the treasury about BGN 3 billion a year. "We want to help GERB with 3 billion a year, which should not be taken from Bulgarian businesses and collected from taxpayers, but will go directly into the budget," Petkov said.

"BGN 20 per megawatt, for 150 million megawatts, equals BGN 3 billion per year in the treasury. Neither people will be fired, nor taxes will be raised," said Krill Petkov. He stressed that last year GERB leader Boyko Borissov supported such a move.

When reminded by journalists that his own CC had proposed this measure, but had abandoned it after pressure from Hungary, Kiril Petkov said, “The pressure was related to Schengen. Now that we are already in Schengen, the pressure from Hungary can no longer happen".

"Will Boyko Borissov be willing to ignore his friendship with Orban and will he be able to play against Putin, so that we can get these funds into the treasury and they can go to young families, to pensioners, to kindergartens and schools?" Petkov said.
