President Honours Arts and Culture Luminaries ahead of National Awakeners’ Day

President Rumen Radev on Friday conferred the President’s Honorary Badge on Bulgarian arts and cultural figures, on the eve of National Awakeners’ Day on November 1.

In recognition of their significant contribution in the fields of science, education, culture, and art, and on the occasion of milestone anniversaries, honors were given to artist Emil Stoychev, scholar and culturologist Prof. Ivan Marazov, musician and composer Atanas Stoev, philologist and scholar Prof. Kostadin Dinchev, folk singer Binka Dobreva, and philosopher Prof. Vasil Prodanov.

During a second ceremony, historian Svetlozar Eldarov. ballet artist, teacher, and cultural figure Boyko Nedelev, community center activist Maria Zlatkova, scholar Prof. Georgi Mihov, and Lieutenant Colonel Radi Radev, long-time chief conductor of the Guard’s Representative Brass Band were recognized for their long-standing dedication, achievements, and significant impact in their respective fields.

“The broad public support and the nominations for today’s ceremony from reputable initiative committees, your colleagues, associates, students, and followers testify to the importance of your work and achievements. You all represent and are part of the spiritual strength of Bulgaria. You embody its vast potential and everything we can accomplish as a nation when we set ourselves the goal of building a modern Bulgaria and affirming its prestige far beyond the borders of our homeland,” the head of State said.

“We, the people of culture, art, and knowledge, are always traveling and constantly climbing the steep heights of perfection,” said Emil Stoychev on behalf of the awardees. “The Bulgarian spirit travels all around the world, and we, Bulgarians, can be proud,” he added.

“Being awarded the President’s Honorary Badge on the eve of one of the brightest holidays is a great honor,” said Lieutenant Colonel Radi Radev on behalf of the awardees. “The award is a sign that we have worked with dignity, and I am confident that we will continue to dedicate ourselves to upholding the authority of Bulgarian culture, education, and science,” he added.
