                                The 7th National Congress of the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) began at the Sts Constantine and Helena resort on Friday, the BMA said. During the three-day forum, leading experts from Bulgaria and abroad, representatives of institutions, the scientific community, and professional organizations will discuss the main topic of healthcare policies.
The BMA National Congress is a platform that unites opinions, expertise, and vision for the future of healthcare, placing the doctor and the patient at the centre, the BMA said.
Opening the event, BMA Management Board Chairman Nikolay Branzalov emphasized the importance of the Congress as a platform for vision and constructive dialogue. "I believe that health policy cannot be just an administrative matter - it is a moral and social responsibility. Our goal is to be an active and equal partner in creating a modern, accessible, and fair healthcare system," he said.
Minister of Electronic Governance Valentin Mundrov, said that "only together, on the path of e-health, will we achieve what we aim for, namely to put doctors and patients at the centre of the system."
National Health Insurance Fund head Petko Stefanovski said that the BMA can rely on him and the NHIF as a reliable partner "so that these policies can be implemented and we can achieve our common goal - the health of Bulgarians."
Among the international speakers at the Congress were Dr Ole Johan Bakke, President of the Standing Committee of European Doctors, Dr Alessandra Spedicato, President of the European Federation of Salaried Doctors, representatives of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) and the European Junior Doctors Association.
On Friday, the attendees took part in two key panels: "E-health: Prospects" and "Legal Aspects and Out-of-Court Settlements."
The forum continues on Saturday with discussions on key topics for the future of Bulgarian healthcare, including: "Artificial Intelligence in Medicine," "Economics and Funding Models," and "Health Communications and Public Engagement."
