The Energy Ministry Saturday reported the successful completion of the evaluation of investment proposals received under two procedures funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The procedures are "Support for new capacities for electricity production from renewable sources and electricity storage with an installed capacity of 200 kW to 2 MW" (Call 1) and "Support for new capacities for electricity production from renewable sources and electricity storage with an installed capacity of more than 200 kW" (Call 2).
Under Call 1, a total of 327 proposals were received, of which 267 were admissible. The financial resources available under the procedure amount to BGN 107,570,650, which allows the financing of 200 projects for a total value of nearly BGN 107 million. The projects foresee the installation of 435 MW of renewable generation capacity and 176 MW of local electricity storage facilities. Another 67 projects, for which there are not enough financial resources, are included in the list of reserve proposals for a total value of just over BGN 44 million.
Under Call 2, a total of 70 proposals were received, of which 65 were shortlisted. The available financial resources under the procedure amount to BGN 427,544,438, allowing the financing of 49 projects with a total value of almost BGN 419 million. When implemented, 2,660 MW of renewable generation capacity and 1000 MW of local electricity storage will be installed. The 16 projects for which there are not enough financial resources are included in the list of reserve proposals for a total amount of nearly BGN 43 million.
The deadline for implementation of the projects is March 31, 2026.
Caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov described the completion of the project proposals' evaluation as an important step towards achieving Bulgaria's key energy priorities: reducing carbon emissions and successfully integrating renewable energy generation capacity into the grid while ensuring the security and stability of the electricity system, the press release reads.
