The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has awarded the Bulgarian Office of Trade and Economic Affairs in Turkiye for its contribution to the development of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries, said the Economy Ministry. A virtual ceremony was held Tuesday to present the annual awards for the Trade and Economic Affairs Offices (TEAO) of the Ministry of Economy and Industry. 

A Hermes Bronze Statuette and an Honorary Diploma went to Bulgaria’s TEAO in Turkiye for merits in the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, for contribution to the increase of Bulgarian exports, foreign investments and tourists in Bulgaria, as well as for achieving the goals of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the Ministry of Economy and Bulgarian business.

Second place was awarded to Bulgaria’s TEAO in Poland, followed by the TEAO in Japan.

In his remarks at the award ceremony, caretaker Minister of Economy and Industry Petko Nikolov said that the main tasks of the economic advisors, seconded to TEAO, are to support the activities of Bulgarian companies in expanding their positions in international markets and entering new markets, to promote Bulgaria as an attractive investment and tourist destination. "These tasks should be carried out in close cooperation with the representatives of the Bulgarian business circles and taking into account the priorities and needs of the business," Nikolov said as quoted by his Ministry.

The Minister stressed that active cooperation between the competent institutions and the business is necessary for building a good image of Bulgaria in foreign economic terms. He pointed out that the joint work of the TEAO with business organizations such as the BCCI facilitates Bulgaria's entry into innovative and high-tech markets and supply chains. According to Nikolov, these awards are not only a recognition of the TEA officials’ successful work, but also show the importance of the activities of the Ministry's representatives abroad.

The annual awards ceremony for economic advisors, which was held for the 14th time, was jointly organized by BCCI and the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
