Bulgaria is no longer a country of low incomes but is the most competitive in the EU in that respect, InvestBulgaria Agency Executive Director Mila Nenova said during a Bulgarian-Japanese business forum here on Tuesday. The forum was organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and InvestBulgaria Agency as an opportunity to deepen economic cooperation between Japan and Bulgaria.

Attending were a Japanese delegation of over 100 representatives of various Japanese companies, led by JETRO President Susumi Kataoka, Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Hisashi Michigami, and Bulgaria’s caretaker Deputy Economy Minister David Sukalinski, among others.

Nenova said further that Bulgaria is very competitive in terms of production and industrial development costs. She went on to present to the Japanese delegation Bulgaria's advantages as an investment destination.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dadiv Sukalinski said that Bulgaria views Japan as a strategic partner in Asia. "We attach big importance to the development of the bilateral ties and aim to broaden our trade and investment ties," he noted.
