site.btaMPs Adopt Conclusively 2024 State Budget Act Amendments Related to Updating Municipal Projects

Parliament Adopted here conclusively on Friday amendments to the 2024 State Budget Act related to updating the Investment Programme for municipal projects. The bill, submitted by the Council of Ministers, was reviewed by the Palriamentary Budget and Finance Committee on Thursday.

The amendments provide for a reduction in the estimated budget for municipal projects for the current year by BGN 37 million and an increase in the budget under the Investment Programme until December 2026 by over BGN 1 billion. The amendments are related to 349 municipal projects. The bill was prompted by proposals by mayors of municipalities.

The Budget and Finance Committee's report indicates that the Ministry of Finance had received letters from the mayors of 131 municipalities with a total of 753 proposals.

The Investment Programme supports the implementation of the capital programme of the municipalities for the period 2024-2026.  The projects' financing is based on contracts signed between mayors and the Regional Development Minister and are to be implemented and completed by December 31, 2026.
