In 2024, there has been a nearly 10% increase in tourists visiting the southern town of Zlatograd as compared to the summer of 2023, said on Thursday Alexander Mitushev, Manager of the Ethnographic Area Complex Zlatograd and chair of the local association of hotel and restaurant businesses.

Hiking and off-road routes, combining a mountain-sea vacation, spa holidays, cultural and historical tourism are the main highlights of the town's tourist programme. Mostly Bulgarian vacationers visit the complex, with Greek tourist groups also arriving and staying on Sundays. Hoteliers rely on outdoor and indoor pools, spa services with mineral water from the spring near the village of Erma Reka, and excursions for tourists to the beaches in Northern Greece.

The summer season in Zlatograd is planned to last until the end of October, not only because of the warm weather, but also because of a series of planned events, which include the International Basketball Tournament Delyu Voivoda Cup on September 14, and the traditional reenactment of an ordinary day in the ethnographic complex from more than a century ago, which will take place on September 21.
