Charter flights will link Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent and the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Burgas as of June, Veselina Kotavova, project manager at Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, which operates Burgas Airport and Varna Airport, told the media here on Thursday. The new route will run until September, she added.

From June 22, flights from Burgas to Madrid and back will be operated for the second summer season in a row, Kotavova said, adding that this route will also run until September.

The project manager said that the UK is expected to be Burgas Airport’s number one market in 2024, adding that an increase in passengers is projected based on the number of bookings. Traditionally, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany will also be among the top markets. Kotavova noted that the German market’s recovery is currently relatively slow compared to pre-pandemic 2019.

Varna Airport is also adding new routes to its portfolio. Regular flights will be operated by Wise Air from Frankfurt-Hahn (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Tel Aviv (Israel), and Vienna (Austria) from the beginning of August.

Kotavova participated in a conference titled "Experience Bulgaria" (Erlebe Bulgarien), which was opened by Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev in Nessebar earlier in the day.
