site.btaWarsaw Says Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia Demand Ukrainian Grain Import Ban Extended
Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia support extending a EU ban on Ukrainian grain import to those countries until the end of the year, Polish agriculture minister Robert Telus said on Friday quoted by Reuters.
Only a day ago, Bulgarian Agriculture and Food Minister Kiril Vatev said that Bulgaria has abandoned its request for a ban on wheat imports from Ukraine. On the other hand, Bulgaria told the European Commission (EC) that it insists that the import ban applies to three commodities: sunflower, unrefined cooking oil and dry milk.
Reuters recalls that the European Union in May allowed Ukraine's five neighbours to ban domestic sales of Ukrainian wheat, maize, rapeseed and sunflower seeds, while allowing transit of such cargoes for export elsewhere. That ban is set to end on September 15.
