Two-time Grammy Award winner Diana Krall is taking to the stage of Hall 1 at Sofia's National Palace of Culture (NDK) on Thursday, October 30, the BG Sound Stage promotion company said. Krall has included Bulgaria for the first time in her world tour.

Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight debut albums reaching No. 1 on the Billboard charts. She has also won ten Juno Awards from the Canadian Music Academy and holds seven multi-platinum, three platinum and nine gold albums. Her 1999 song "When I Look in Your Eyes" remained at the top of the Billboard chart for 52 consecutive weeks.

According to The New York Times, Krall’s unique artistry and musicianship transcend musical genres, while her distinctive voice—calm yet deeply emotional—is filled with rhythmic sophistication.

Diana Krall was born in a small town in the Canadian province of British Columbia. She grew up in western Canada and began studying piano at the age of four. By fifteen, she was already performing jazz, encouraged by her father, a pianist with a deep knowledge and love of the great jazz masters of the 1920s and 1930s, such as Fats Waller, James P. Johnson, and Earl Hines.

As a teenager, she earned a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After two years in Boston, she moved to Los Angeles, where she met world-class jazz musicians including bassist John Clayton, drummer Jeff Hamilton, pianist and singer Jimmy Rowles, and the legendary bassist Ray Brown, who became her musical mentor.

In 1993, the Montreal-based label Justin Time Records released Krall’s debut album Stepping Out. The following year, she signed with GRP Records. Her success continued with All for You and Love Scenes, but the turning point in her career came in 1999 with the release of When I Look In Your Eyes.

Her next album, The Look of Love, cemented her rise to international fame, entering the Billboard Top Ten bestsellers. This was followed by Turn Up The Quiet, which won two Juno Awards. On Love Is Here to Stay, she collaborated with her long-time friend and colleague Tony Bennett, performing duets such as "Love Is Here to Stay", "'S Wonderful", and "They Can’t Take That Away from Me".

Her most recent album to date, This Dream of You, featuring "Autumn In New York", has once again received critical acclaim from both fans and the press.

Throughout her career, the jazz diva has collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz, pop, and soul music, including Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Bublé.

Krall is well known to Bulgarian audiences, who have grown up listening to much of her work. Songs such as "Almost Like Being in Love", "Temptation", "California Dreamin'", "The Look of Love", "Besame Mucho", "Let’s Fall in Love", and "Fly Me to the Moon" have shaped the love of jazz for two generations of Bulgarian fans.
