The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) enables Bulgarians around the world to stay connected, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said in Odesa before the closing concert of singer Iliya Lukov, part of a series marking the Day of the Bessarabian Bulgarians and the Day of the National Awakeners.

Valchev noted that BTA published over 8,000 stories in its “BG World” section in 2024 and maintains permanent press clubs and correspondents in Odesa and Taraclia. Since 2022, BTA has been the only foreign news agency with a full-time correspondent in Odesa, who has filed over 1,400 reports about Bulgarians in Ukraine.

He recalled BTA’s initiatives, including concerts, cultural projects, and the 2023 World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Odesa and Bolhrad, and announced plans to erect monuments honoring notable Bessarabian Bulgarians such as Alexander Malinov, Alexander Teodorov-Balan, and General Ivan Inzov by 2028.

“Through its work, BTA helps Bulgarians everywhere communicate and remain united in spirit, peace, and freedom,” Valchev said.
