Director Georgi Djulgerov is the winner of the FIPRESCI Platinum Award at the 29th Sofia Film Fest, the organizers from Art Fest said on Tuesday. His latest film, Razlom, will have a special screening at Lumiere Cinema on March 15.
Also to premiere within Sofia Film Fest is the second edition of Djulgerov's book "Biography of My Films. Part I", in which he tells the story of "the film's other life, the one that is not captured on camera. The other life which takes place during the filming. Or after. And the people who are involved either in the film's making or in its saving, even in its mocking."
In 2025, the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) marks its 100th anniversary. On that occasion, the special prize will be presented to one of the most emblematic creators in Bulgarian cinema. He will thus become the only Bulgarian filmmaker to join the company of cinema stars awarded the FIPRESCI prize.
The FIPRESCI Platinum Award was conferred for the first time in Bari ten years ago for the Federation's 90th anniversary. Over the years, the prize began being presented on behalf of the Federation at several festivals around the globe, including Sofia Film Fest. Djulgerov being among the laureates is not only an acknowledgement of his talent and place in the history and present of world cinema but also an expression of respect for Bulgarian cinema's achievements, the Sofia Film Fest team commented.
