site.btaSofia Exhibition to Highlight Literary Heritage in Bulgarian Exarchate Library in Istanbul

An exhibition titled The Literary Heritage in the Library of the Bulgarian Exarchate in Istanbul will open in the central lobby of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia on September 20, the organizers of the event said on Wednesday.

The exhibition will feature 15 posters presenting the rarest publications kept at the Bulgarian Exarchate Library in the Turkish metropolis. The general public will thus be familiarized with an important part of the Bulgarian written cultural heritage abroad.

The show will mark 155 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

The books in the Bulgarian Exarchate Library in Istanbul have been catalogued under an agreement with the BAS Central Library. The catalogue and the digitization of the Church archive will be useful to current and future researchers, the BAS said.
