site.bta30,000 Applaud Andrea Bocelli with Sofia Philharmonic

Nearly 30,000 people applauded Andrea Bocelli, who celebrated 30 years of his career on Saturday night. The Italian tenor sang at the Vasil Levski National Stadium, just a few days before celebrating his 66th birthday.

Throughout the two-hour performance, the National Philharmonic Choir "Svetoslav Obretenov" and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra were on stage. Maestro Marcello Rota, who has worked with Plácido Domingo and with Andrea Bocelli continuously for the last 25 years, was at the conductor's podium. 

Eighteen of the most famous operatic arias, songs and film music were performed by Bocelli and his special guests - Romanian soprano Cristina Pasaroiu, Italian singer and composer Elisa Gaiotto, and flutist Andrea Griminelli.

The audience's applause was rewarded with three encores - O sole mio, Con te partirò and Nessun dorma.

Andrea Bocelli's concert is the second at Vasil Levski Stadium this year. On August 31, Ed Sheeran sang there in front of 60,000 people at the invitation of the same organizer - Fest Team.
