site.btaSofia's Artvent Theatre to Move to New Stage in September

Sofia's Artvent Theatre will launch its new season on September 17 with Salomé Lelouch's Sur la tête des enfants!, directed by Kris Sharkov, BTA learnt from the company. Vesela Babinova, Vladimir Zombori, Lidia Vasileva and Daniel Kukushev will present the French comedy at the 803-seat Aula Maxima of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG).

"The UACEG auditorium largely meets the requirements for theatre performance, but we are making improvements, including of the stage. Since it is far larger than a standard theatre stage, it will be adapted to help viewers focus on what is going on there and give them the feeling of attending a real theatre. Other investments are being made, too, in improving the auditorium itself and the surrounding premise," Artvent Communications Manager Tatyana Pavlova told BTA.

So far, Artvent has been performing at the Theatro Theatre but left that space because of its packed schedule and the scarcity of available performance dates. "We tried to find an alternative as a step in Artvent's aspiration to close the cycle of theatre experience, from the staging itself to the logistics, promotion and performance," Pavlova explained.
