Austrian violinist of Bulgarian origin Maxim Tzekov and British pianist Julian Trevelyan will give a concert in the Bulgaria Chamber Hall on October 15. The event is part of the Laureates project, the Cantus Firmus agency said.

The two musicians will play Mozart's Violin Sonata No. 22 in A Major and Richard Strauss's Violin Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 18. Both works are among the less frequently performed masterpieces for violin and piano, but their music fascinates with melodic richness and virtuoso lines in the parts of both instruments, the organizers said.

The concert also features Rio Grande, a secular cantata by British composer Constant Lambert (1905-1951).

The two musicians will give a masterclass in chamber music at the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School on October 13.

Trevelyan plays the piano, violin and viola. He won the Second Prize, the Mozart Prize and the Audience Prize at the Geza Anda Piano Competition in Zurich in 2021. He has a degree in geology, directs a string quartet, plays period instruments and is part of a Chinese music choir. He is fluent in French, German and Italian. He currently lives in Paris and enjoys reading, cooking and sports in his free time.

Maxim Tzekov was born in Austria in 2000. He received his first violin lessons from the legendary Bulgarian performer Dina Schneidermann and studied under Bulgarian Ivan Dimitrov, concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Now Tzekov studies under Prof. Ulf Wallin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and plays in the Vienna State Opera / Vienna Philharmonic.
