Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Kiril Valchev presented each of the participants in the spring conference in the Portuguese capital Lisbon of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) with a magnet with an image of the letters of the Cyrillic alphabet, a short text in English with an explanation of the celebration in Bulgaria of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of the Slavic Literature and the stamp issued by Bulgarian Post on the occasion of BTA's 125th anniversary in 2023.

The first day of the conference was dedicated to news agencies and artificial intelligence. The second day, at the headquarters of Portugal's national news agency LUSA, focused on the role of news agencies in the contemporary media landscape.

Registered in the Swiss capital Bern, EANA was established in 1956 and has 33 European national agencies as its members, including BTA. The agency has partnership agreements with 20 of them, and on Friday it is scheduled to sign an agreement with a 21st, Portugal's LUSA.
