Bozhana Slavkova First Bulgarian to Win Mili Dueli Poetry Competition

Bulgarian author Bozhana Slavkova won the first place in the 9th edition of the major international online poetry contest Mili Dueli, Burgas Municipality said in a press release  on Monday.  With this, Slavkova became the first Bulgarian participant to win the grand prize in the competition, which has been organized since 2012 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Participating in the 9th edition of the competition were 711 authors from 104 countries. Bulgaria was represented by Slavkova, Georgi Gavrilov, and Dayana Chobanova, all ranked among the best 50 participants.

Bozhana Slavkova is a creative professional with experience in poetry, cinema, visual arts, theatre and performance. She is a flautist by education, a graduate of the Burgas National School of Music and Performing Arts and winner of the Petya Dubarova poetry award. The poem with which she participated in the poetry contest is called The Tree with the Obituaries. A film about the poem hass been made by Slavkova together with Denis Stoyanov and Denislav Marinov.
