Prof. Dr William Cavanagh of the University of Nottingham will deliver a lecture in English on Mycenaeans and Spartans at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM-BAS) in Sofia on Tuesday, the organizers reported. Cavanagh will introduce the audience to recent advances in the study of Mycenaean and Spartan cultures in the ancient Peloponnese.

Comparing Mycenaean and Archaic Laconia can lead to useful conclusions. The lecture will address issues related to territory and settlement organization, rituals and sacrifices, meals and ritual feasts.
