site.btaNational Library Presents BTA with Media Partnership Award
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) was presented with a plaque and a certificate of appreciation by the Saints Cyril and Methodius National Library here on Tuesday night at the Donor of the Year ceremony. The award in the Media Partnership category was presented by the Library Director, Krasimira Aleksandrova, to BTA Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva.
Drumeva pointed out that while the two institutions have different functions, they do share something in common – the responsibility to act as guardians of the national memory. Drumeva said that the National Library has more than 8.5 million library items in its collection, while BTA's archive holds more than 5 million pages of news bulletins.
In June 2021, Assoc. Prof. Krasimira Aleksandrova and BTA Director General Kiril Valchev signed a partnership agreement. To this day, both BTA and the Library have benefited from their partnership, Drumeva said.
The 2024 Donor of the Year event took place for the sixth time. The event honoured more than 20 donors and partners of the National Library.
