Un Amor, the Spanish romance drama film directed by Isabel Coixet, won the Best Book-to-Film Adaptation Award 2023 in the Feature Film Competition of the CineLibri International Book and Movie Festival on October 20. Hollywood star William Baldwin, who chaired the international jury, announced the winner in Sofia's NDK convention centre.

Spanish Ambassador Alejandro Polanco Mata received the award for Un Amor. He said the award is extremely important and has made all Spaniards at the event very happy and honoured.

The film scripted by Coixet and Laura Ferrero is based on the best selling novel of the same name by Sara Mesa. The 2023 Goya Award for Best Actress winner Laia Costa (Lullaby) stars opposite Hovik Keuchkerian (Money Heist) in this captivating tale of obsessive passion that forces the film's protagonist to reconsider the woman she thought she was.

The film earned a best picture nomination for the 71th San Sebastian Film Festival 2023. The novel was named by El PaÍs Spain's 2020 Book of the Year. It has been translated into 13 languages.

Anselm directed by Wim Wenders won the award in the CineLibri Documentary Competition. The film portrays Anselm Kiefer, one of the most outstanding and original contemporary German artists and sculptors, the organizers said.

The international jury was made up of William Baldwin, Canadian casting director and producer Bruno Rosato, French director and actress Lea Todorov (daughter of world famous intellectual Tzvetan Todorov), much loved Bulgarian film and stage actor Ivan Barnev, and Spanish actress Carla Nieto.

The ceremony wound up with a screening of Roman Polanski's black comedy The Palace.
