American film star William Baldwin will meet the Bulgarian audience at the 9th edition of the international book and movie festival Cinelibri in October, the organizers from Colibri Publishers announced on Thursday. The popular actor, screenwriter and producer is coming to Bulgaria as president of the jury that will select the winners of the main competition: best feature film based on a literary work.
Baldwin's partners will be Canadian casting director and producer Bruno Rosato, French film director and actress Lea Todorov, Spanish TV and film actress Carla Nieto, and Bulgarian theatre and film actor Ivan Barnev.
The jury will choose from eleven competing titles, most of which premiered at the Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Toronto festivals. The winner will be announced on October 20 in Hall 1 of NDK convention centre. This will be the only opportunity for the viewers to meet with the representatives of the international jury, the organizers said.
Immediately after the award ceremony, Roman Polanski's new film, the black comedy The Palace, will be screened. The Bulgarian premiere is scheduled to take place in NDK’s Hall 1. The screening on October 20will be the only one within the festival and the only one confirmed for Bulgaria after the world premiere of the film in Venice.
Cinelibri will take place on October 6-29 in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo and Stara Zagora.
