Bulgaria's Youth and Sports Minister, Ivan Peshev, Thursday said that countries that invest in young people not only lay the foundations of a more sustainable and engaged society but also secure a better future, as youth are the driving force behind new ideas, innovation, and the important decisions for the future. He was speaking at the opening of a China–Bulgaria Youth Forum in Sofia.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports Matters Chair Gabriel Valkov, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Petar Mladenov, and Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Dai Qingli.
Minister Peshev said that the forum would create new opportunities for cooperation and partnership between Bulgaria and China in the areas of youth policy, science, and entrepreneurship, while also strengthening relations between the two countries.
Organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria, the forum brought together representatives of Sofia University, the INSAIT institute, the Chinese Cultural Centre, the Vitosha Ventures Foundation, and Wuhan University, among others. The discussion was divided into three panels focused on scientific research and entrepreneurship, humanities and education, and the exchange of good practices between youth organizations from Bulgaria and China.
