As of October 15, 34,747 residents have disrupted water supply, according to the water and sewerage operators, within Bulgarian Water and Sewerage Holding EAD, summarized report for the period October 6-13, the company announced on Wednesday.

This is a decrease of 114,391 people from the previous seven-day period. The affected population is 0.7% of the total serviced by the 26 water and sewerage companies within the Holding.

Weekly reports show that in the second week of October 2024, 232,354 people, or 5.17%, were affected by water supply disruptions.

Currently, three cities are under water restrictions: Breznik (Western Bulgaria), Radomir (Western Bulgaria), and Omurtag (Northeastern Bulgaria). The number of villages under restrictions has decreased from 260 to 88. The municipalities with affected population are now 36, compared to 72 at the beginning of the previous week.

The water and sewerage operators within the Holding continue working on the measures identified to reduce losses, replace the water supply network, pressure control, exploring new water sources, and detecting illegal water main connections and unregulated water use.

The main objective of Bulgarian Water and Sewerage Holding EAD in the context of global climate change is to guarantee high-quality water and sewerage services at an acceptable price for the public services provided by water and sewerage operators, the statement said.
