site.btaDeputy PM Zafirov Commits to Ensuring Accountability After Deadly Floods in Elenite

Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov said he would make personal efforts to ensure that anyone found responsible for the floods in the Elenite resort area faces the full severity of the law.

Speaking to journalists during an inspection of the newly built section of the Hemus Motorway between the Boaza and Dermantsi interchanges, Zafirov expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and stressed the importance of quickly clarifying the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

He added that he expects reports from the relevant institutions to be completed soon to determine the causes of the disaster.

Severe weather and torrential rains in the Burgas region claimed four lives and caused significant material and infrastructure damage. A state of emergency has been declared in the municipalities of Burgas, Tsarevo, and Nesebar.
