Servicemen from the Bulgarian Navy and the Logistics Support Command continue to assist on Sunday in clearing the aftermath of the floods in Burgas Region, the Defence Ministry said on Sunday.
Personnel from the Flotilla of Combat and Auxiliary Ships, the Naval Base in Burgas, and the Transport Battalion of the Logistics Support Command are providing specialized equipment to clean public infrastructure and restore access to key buildings in the most affected areas of the Elenite holiday complex.
Navy personnel are also participating in the crisis headquarters operating in the nearby town of Sveti Vlas, the Ministry said.
The Armed Forces’ involvement in the recovery efforts follows the Bulgarian Army’s third core mission “Contribution to national security in peacetime.” This mission entails round-the-clock support to civilians in times of natural disasters, using both manpower and military equipment.
The Defence Ministry emphasized that the Bulgarian Army remains fully prepared to deploy additional personnel and resources if needed and will continue its mission of assisting the population.
Servicemen from the Navy and the Logistics Support Command also took part in cleanup operations in Elenite on Saturday.
