There are no deviations in the quality of drinking water in areas experiencing water supply restrictions, Chief State Health Inspector Associate Professor Angel Kunchev said on NOVA TV here Saturday.

Commenting on the water shortage crisis in Pleven, Lovech and other regions, he said samples taken by health authorities and water companies show no irregularities. “If any occur, we immediately stop the use [of water],” he added.

Kunchev noted that even in areas with long-standing water shortages, basic hygiene and disinfection measures prevent outbreaks. Health inspectors increase monitoring in restricted areas and halt supply at the first sign of irregularities.

He also stressed that changes in turbidity or colour, often observed in spring during rainfall and snowmelt, do not pose significant risks. Cloudy water for the first few minutes after supply is restored is normal, he said.
