site.btaVazrazhdane to Table 38,235 Amendments to 2025 State Budget Bill Between First and Second Reading
Vazrazhdane will table 38,235 proposals for amendments to the 2025 State Budget Bill between the first and second readings, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov told reporters in the corridors of Parliament on Friday.
According to him, the proposed amendments focus on ten areas: optimization of administration, reducing current personnel costs and maintenance of bureaucratic structures in favour of capital investments, which are absent in the current version of the draft law; directing funds for modernization of infrastructure and material-technical base; support for technological modernization; increasing funding for e-government, digitalization, and electronic justice; financial pressure on politically motivated bodies; and reducing the budget of units with proven inefficiency, following the example of how the administration under U.S. President Donald Trump currently operates.
In the early hours of Thursday, Bulgaria's Parliament voted, 152-73 with no abstentions, to adopt the 2025 State Budget Bill on first reading. The votes in favour came from GERB-UDF, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning, BSP - United Left, Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DRF, and There Is Such a People. The legislation was opposed by Continue the Change -Democratic Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane, and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh).
