site.btaJournalist Ayshe Sali to Be Officially Introduced as BTA’s New Ankara Correspondent on July 14

Journalist Ayshe Sali will be officially presented as the new correspondent of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Ankara on July 14 at the BTA National Press Club in the Turkish capital.
On the same day, at its press club located at 199E Ataturk Boulevard in Ankara, BTA will also open an exhibition of posters for theatrical productions of plays by Bulgarian playwrights, translated by one of the most prominent and insightful promoters of Bulgarian literature and art in Turkiye, Professor Huseyin Mevsim. He is a lecturer at Ankara University, a literary historian, researcher of Turkish-Bulgarian cultural and literary relations, author, and translator.
Ayshe Sali, a seasoned journalist known primarily for her cultural reporting, is taking over as BTA’s new correspondent in Ankara from Nora Cholakova, who was the first BTA correspondent in the city after the reopening of the agency’s bureau in Turkiye on February 2, 2023. That date also marked the opening of BTA’s National Press Club in the Turkish capital, part of the agency’s policy to establish media hubs in all neighbouring countries and in states with significant Bulgarian communities.
Sali said: “I accepted the invitation from the Bulgarian News Agency to become the correspondent in Ankara because we share the belief that producing original content with a distinctive voice is a hallmark of professionalism and high standards in journalism. This becomes even more important in a world where fast information, objective journalism, and on-the-ground insights compete with social media. I’m leaving for Ankara at an incredibly interesting time for Turkiye, a country that is now one of the key players on the global geopolitical stage, where world politics is being written in real time. At the same time, we all love the food and beautiful places that we associate with our southern neighbour. I believe this big change for me – both personally and professionally – will allow us to discover even more about the scale and depth of the country.”
The journalist holds a degree in Portuguese Philology from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” Her journalistic career began at the BGNES agency, after which she joined the team of the Bulgarian National Television, where she gained 10 years of experience.
Sali is the author of documentaries on Bulgarian violinist Vesko Panteleev-Eschkenazy, pianist Richard Clayderman, and the restored Library of Alexandria in Egypt. She was a special correspondent for Bulgarian National Television during the devastating earthquakes in Turkiye on February 6, 2023. In the years that followed, she produced a series of reports tracking the country’s recovery, as well as key developments in areas strategic to the Bulgarian-Turkish partnership.
