Bulgaria's political and financial crisis over the past four years highlights the urgent need for a stable government with a full mandate, a sentiment shared during the meeting between the negotiating teams of GERB-Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)-United Left, GERB-UDF’s press service said here on Tuesday.

Among the topics uniting the two coalitions is the formation of an anti-corruption majority with a pro-European character.

During the discussions, both parties concurred that the new regular government should break the cycle of elections and focus on adopting a balanced budget, providing social security for citizens, and creating a stable investment climate in the country.

BSP-United Left brought up the need for the super-rich to help reduce social inequality. GERB-UDF said that a main priority for the coalition is Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone.

The statement said that the two coalitions will work together to incorporate the measures they discussed into an agreement, which will serve as the basis for the National Assembly's legislative program.

GERB-UDF is holding a series of negotiations with other political parties earlier this week. The first negotiation session between GERB-UDF and Democratic Bulgaria (DB) happened on Monday, with two expert level meetings between GERB-UDF and DB also happening on Monday and Tuesday.
