site.btaRetaliating, Ahmed Dogan's Wing of MRF Expels Party Members from Rival Wing in Kardzhali
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) wing backing founder and Honorary Chair Ahmed Dogan announced Thursday the expulsion of 10 members of the local party chapter in Kardzhali, including the town's mayor Erol Myumyun. The move comes a day after the rival faction, headed by Delyan Peevski announced the expulsion of 12 local chapter members including former Kardzhali Mayor and one of the most recognizable MRF members Hassan Azis.
The two factions are fighting a court battle over the control of the party.
The Thursday expulsion was announced to BTA by the local chapter leader, Resmi Murad. Among the expellees are three MPs elected on the ticket of MRF - New Beginning, the coalition with which Peevski's faction entered the new Parliament. There are also three mayors: Myumyun of Kardzhali, Nedzhmi Ali of Dzhebel and Aydzhan Ahmed of Chernoochene.
The grounds of the expulsion include providing breeding ground for a rift undermining the unity of the party and its leadership, and membership of another party, among others.
The exact same grounds were cited by MRF - New Beginning for the expulsion of the 12 party members.
