- International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflicts.

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1920: Based on the Treaty of Neuilly, Serbian army occupies Bulgaria's Western Outlands (1,555 sq km, population of 65,000 at the time). Three-day national mourning in Bulgaria.

1954: Alexander Stamboliyski dam is unveiled.

1964: Diplomatic relations with Belgium, established on December 11, 1879 at legation level, are promoted to embassy level.

1967: Bulgaria becomes member of UN Food and Agriculture Organization.

1998: Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum is set up under the auspices of President Peter Stoyanov and the Prince of Wales by ten leading companies and two NGOs.
