site.btaUPDATED CEC Deputy Chair: Installation of Voting Machines' Software Starts at 2:30 pm Tuesday at Latest

The installation of the voting machines' software will start at 2:30 pm on Tuesday at the latest, CEC Deputy Chair and Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva announced at a briefing held earlier in the day in the National Assembly. The briefing focused on the preparation of the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on October 27.

Mateva pointed out that media will be allowed to the warehouse where the voting machines are stored. She urged the media to not publish preliminary polling data or preliminary voting results on election day.

According to her, the preparations for the elections are proceeding smoothly, the election campaign should end on Friday and, so far, there have been no drastic violations. 

Mateva pointed out that a total of 157 voting machines were sent abroad last week, with 150 of them checked by the experts provided by the State administration. “We have almost 100% verification done”, she added. In her words, the machines for voting abroad were handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs late on Friday evening and are currently already travelling to the polling stations.

The training of the members of many regional election commissions has been completed, but the practice of commission members’ replacements continues, she added.

CEC Deputy Chair also demonstrated the new functionalities of the CEC website, where, in the National Assembly Elections section, voters and election commissions’ members can find all the information needed. People can find there methodological guidelines for voting in and outside the country, as well as a questions and answers section.
