The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Central Operative Bureau, which represents the MRF faction loyal to its Honorary Chairman Ahmed Dogan, said in a Tuesday press release that it is "determined to stand up against" acts of repression by official Bulgarian institutions, which is says are "inspired by political opponents".
The press release speaks of "unprecedented acts of ill-grounded and in some cases unlawful actions by the Bulgarian institutions which exercise obvious repression" against MRF members and supporters, and their families.
The two MRF chairmen, Dzhevdet Chakarov and Delyan Peevski, have taken the helm of two warring factions of MRF. They sought separate registrations for the snap elections after a rift between the party's founder and honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan and Peevski.
According to the press release by Dogan's faction, the actions of the said state institutions "not only demonstrate their helplessness in the face of the dependencies of their leaders but also put to humiliation the Bulgarian State". The MRF Central Operative Bureau vows that the leadership, MRF members and supporters "are determined to take all legal action to respond to this abuse of the political representation of a party with a 35-year democratic history".
Dogan's faction also complained Friday of a "brazen intimidation" campaign against them, involving state institutions. "The acts where state institutions are being used for intimidation and pressure get ever more brazen," Timur Halilov MP said at a news conference.
