According to a statement signed by the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Floor Leader Delyan Peevski and released by the MRF Press Service here on Wednesday, the pro-Russian Vazrazhdane party's insidious bill on foreign agents is a grave provocation to Bulgaria's national security and sovereignty.

The statement alleges that the bill is an unprecedented attempt to transpose laws from Putin's Russia into the Bulgarian national legislation.

It reads further: "Attempts to blacklist inconvenient people, organizations, media, schools and universities, and intimidate civil society structures are the last refuge of totalitarian systems. The parliamentary parties' response towards this bill will be a litmus test of their values and affiliations, which is a very strong signal to the public. Uniting against such a threat and categorically rejecting this bill is what the Bulgarian citizens and our Euro-Atlantic partners expect from responsible leaders."

The press release says that the parliamentary group of the MRF will vote categorically against any such act of provocation against the Bulgarian values and the freedom of development of civil society and its structures.
