GERB leader Boyko Borissov said Thursday that the break-up of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) is dangerous. "Systemic parties are falling apart and I would even say that the break-up of MRF is dangerous because there are many Bulgarian Muslims on both sides," Borissov said during a visit to the northeastern town of Shumen.

He expressed hope that "everybody will respect the law". "We have a Political Parties Act [that needs to be observed]," he said adding that no compromises can be made about that.

"I would tell the other colleagues that the whole idea of having rule of law is that the law applies to all," he also said.

Borissov said that his party is trying to explain to people why they have to vote. "Otherwise, more small parties will form in parliament, which is a waste of votes, because the only thing left for them is to speak 'against'. We have wasted four years."

He called on the Muslim supporters of GERB to continue voting for GERB. "There are many Bulgarian Muslims in GERB and I call on them to continue voting for GERB. In this way their votes will not be lost."

Traditionally, the majority of Muslim votes in Bulgaria are believed to have gone to MRF.

"I want people to know that we are for low taxes, brutal laws on VAT evasion and violations, for the development of industry, development of [industrial] parks, which pulls the economy and industry forward. And this is the right formula, where the State helps businesses", said the GERB leader.
