Bulgaria is prepared for Schengen and Hungary does not understand why it is still not part of this area, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said in Bucharest. He was in the Romanian capital to participated in the eighth meeting of the energy ministers of the countries in the Green Corridor project: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.

Answering a question during a press conference after the event, which was broadcast live on social networks, Hungary's top diplomat stressed that his country supports Bulgaria and Romania's Schengen accession.

If the two countries are part of Schengen, the long queues at the borders will disappear. If Romania is part of Schengen, trade between the two countries will be facilitated, Romania is Hungary's second or third trading partner, Péter Szijjártó said.
