Representatives of the BOEC anti-corruption movement held a protest in front of the Russian Cultural and Information Centre (RCIC) in Sofia on Friday evening. The protest was organized as a sign of solidarity with Aleksandra Mileva.

Mileva was arrested on Thursday in front of the RCIC building, where she set fire to the Russian flag. "Yesterday I came to burn a flag in protest of everything that Russia is doing to Ukraine," she said after being released from custody. Mileva added that she was not given a reason for her arrest.

Anton Mironov from BOEC told the media that the protesters aim to express their disagreement with the repression imposed on Bulgarian citizens.

Other citizens joined the protest as well, in in solidarity with Mileva and the Ukrainian people. The protesters set fire to the Russian flag and covered the stairs of the RCIC with red paint.

There was an increased police presence in front of the RCIC building during the protest.
