New Deputy Interior Minister, Interior Ministry Secretary General Appointed

Lyubomir Yosifov has been appointed Deputy Minister of Interior and, effective August 30, 2024, Chief Commissioner Yavor Serafimov will replace Chief Commissioner Dimitar Kangaldzhiev as secretary general of the Interior Ministry, the Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

Yosifov's appointment was proposed by Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov and was ordered by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

Yosifov recently worked as a security expert in the private sector. He previously held various positions in the Interior Ministry system and filled expert positions at the Justice Ministry’s General Directorate Execution of Penalties.

On a proposal by Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov and by order of Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Stoyan Temelakiev and Hristo Stefanov have been released as deputy interior ministers.

Kangaldzhiev’s replacement was ordered by Ilkov in consultation with Glavchev.

Serafimov was so far Director of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. He was previous deputy director of the same Directorate.
