The caretaker Government proposes increasing the minimum monthly wage to BGN 1,077 as of January 1, 2025, from the current BGN 933. The proposal is contained in a draft of a Council of Ministers decree which has been put up for public consultation until September 26.

Setting the amount at BGN 1,077 for 2025 will increase the minimum monthly wage by BGN 144 (15.4%) compared to BGN 933 set from January 1, 2024, the report of the social minister says.

Under the Labour Code, the national minimum wage for the next calendar year is set at 50% of the average gross wage for a period of 12 months, which includes the last two quarters of the previous year and the first two quarters of the current year, and may not be lower than that set for the previous year.
