Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov, who spoke to reporters here on Monday, said that the current situation shows that Bulgaria is hostage to the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Co-Chair Delyan Peevski. According to Kostadinov, the situation is no longer about the figure of the prime minister, who "who obviously does not matter", but about the caretaker Minister of Interior, Kalin Stoyanov.

The leader of Vazrazhdane said: "The reason [for situation being about Stoyanov] is that the Interior Ministry is covering up the practice of vote-buying." He added that if vote-buying was not tolerated, then Peevski would get no more than 30,000 votes during the next elections, which would not be enough to enter Parliament.

Kostadinov stated: "We see that we have a state that formally looks like [a state], but in reality, it is privately owned by a man who has put his people everywhere, in every institution, and when it comes to a decision, it turns out that whichever option is resorted to, it is always Peevski's man."

Kostadinov blamed Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria for the situation at hand.

He added that the ongoing protests across the country in support for Stoyanov are a good opportunity to "count the number of corrupt police officers", saying that: "Anyone, who comes out to defend Kalin Stoyanov, is part of the scheme to cover up for vote-buying."
