Former chair of the supervisory board of the Corporate Commercial Bank (Corpbank), Tzvetan Vassilev, is being heard by Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee for the Verification of Facts and Circumstances concerning the Presence of Unregulated Influence in the Justice System and the Commitments of Representatives of the Judiciary, inconsistent with the standards of independence and professional ethics, the activities of the groups around Martin "the Notary" Bozhanov and former prosecutor Petyo "the Euro" Petrov. Vassilev attended the hearing online.

Petyo "the Euro" Petrov was the chief technical mastermind behind the hit on Corpbank, Vassilev said. The bank went bankrupt in 2014, which was followed by then prosecutor general Ivan Geshev issuing indictments.

The Committee was due to hear first former chair of the Supreme Court of Cassation Lozan Panov, followed by Movement for Rights and Freedoms Floor Leader Delyan Peevski and caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov. Panov and Peevski have not confirmed whether they will attend the hearing, while Stoyanov has sent a letter to report that he would be unable to take part in the hearing, Committee Chair Nadejda Iordanova said.
