The report by the ad hoc committee in the 49th National Assembly into corrupt practices at the Customs Agency was sent to the prosecution office on April 25, MP Toshko Yordanov of There Is Such a People (TISP), who chaired the committee in the 49th National Assembly, told journalists in parliament.
He commented on the actions of Movement for Rights and Freedoms Co-chair Delyan Peevski to refer to the prosecutor's office, SANS and the Interior Ministry the conclusions in the report.
On May 14, there was a reply from the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office that they had taken into account the report and had admitted it as material in the ongoing proceedings.
If someone has re-submitted the report, the prosecution office may open a new case specifically against Assen Vassilev and Boyko Rashkov, Yordanov added.
Following a raid in early April this year by the State Agency for National Security and the Commission for Combating Corruption at the Customs Agency, the agency's director Petya Bankova was arrested. An ad hoc committee was set up in parliament and issued a report, which was adopted at a committee meeting on April 25.
The investigation is against an organized criminal group, in which five people are accused, including the former director of the Customs Agency Bankova and the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Zhivko Kotsev. Earlier today, Assen Vassilev also commented on the issue, describing Peevski's actions as a PR stunt.
