Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Nevyana Miteva met with Argentina's Deputy Foreign Minister Leopoldo Sahores in Buenos Aires on July 18, the Bulgarian Embassy in Argentina reported on Saturday.

Miteva was in Buenos Aires for a meeting of the Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism forum of the World Jewish Congress, held between July 16 and 18.

The two diplomats discussed the tradition of friendship between their nations and considered ways to expand and deepen bilateral relations in all areas of shared interest.

They paid special attention to Bulgaria's support for Argentina's bid to join NATO as a "global partner".

Bilateral cooperation in Antarctica was another highlight of the talks. Miteva thanked Argentina for the logistical support provided to the Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition and the crew of the Bulgarian naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii.

She presented an invitation to Sahores to continue the fruitful dialogue in Bulgaria and hold political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries.

At the Ivan Vazov Bulgarian Cultural Association in Berisso, a suburb of Buenos Aires, Miteva opened an exhibition on the Jewish community in the Bulgarian land, which presents documents from the National Library in Sofia. The ceremony was attended by the president of the AMIA Argentine-Israeli Cultural Association in La Plata, representatives of the local authorities and members of the Bulgarian community.

The Bulgarian folklore group Sedyanka, established under the Ivan Vazov Association, greeted the guests by performing stylized folk pieces from various ethnographic regions in Bulgaria.

The visiting Deputy Foreign Minister paid tribute at the monument to Bulgarian freedom fighter Vasil Levski in Buenos Aires.
